Teresa Tierney

Teresa's diverse background includes degrees in vocal performance and pedagogy as well as music theory and composition, awards from the Aspen Music Festival, and extensive vocal study in Italy. A native of the Twin Cities, she earned her undergraduate degree from the College of St. Catherine, and then moved west to the University of Colorado at Boulder where she received her Master of Music.

Further vocal study has taken her twice to Milan, Italy where she has studied extensively with Rita Patane and also currently studies with Mary Kay Schmidt.

Teresa was honored in June 2009 to have been chosen for the soprano solo in Mendelssohn's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in their season closing concert at the Ordway. Other recent solo performances include Mozart's Requiem, Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, and Handel's Judas Maccabeus and Messiah.

Collegiate teaching experience includes the University of Colorado at Boulder and Century College. She has also worked extensively with the private voice programs at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, Eagan High School, and Rosemount High School. In addition to academic programs, 10 years of teaching continuing education and personal enrichment courses has led to a strong understanding and passion for working with adults.
